About Me - The Timeline (in pictures)

1964-69
Born and spent my formative years in London
1970s
The early 70s brought me a sister, Helen
Between 1977 and 1985 I was a member of the Air Training Corps (ATC). No. 2473 Sqn (then Southgate School Sqn)
1980s
I also gained my Solo Gliding wings with the ATC, A,B & C certificate as it used to be called
Here in my ATC uniform with my sister
University - UCL, Physics BSc(Hons), 1982-85

I did a lot of Fine Art during this period, below a chalk pastel of Tower Bridge from a photo I took with my old Hanimex 35ee Micro 35mm film camera

Below is a sketch of UCL, done on site or as the French say en plein air
1985, RAF, that's me in the top right (as you view it)
Training, Catterick, this is ALSO the closest you will find of a University Graduation photograph of me, because while I was on this exercise, my UCL graduation ceremony was taking place. I did ask if I could quickly go to London to attend, but was told no. The training was more fun anyhow, but it does mean I never got to accept my certificate from Princess Anne (now The Princess Royal), who was Chancellor of UCL.

Training, Scotland, the fittest I've ever been
Lived in Aberdeen for 3 months while working for NL Bariod, including a hitch in the North Sea on a semi-sub exploration rig the Glomar Arctic 1, boredom and a 60 foot wave put me off going back out for a second hitch

Joined Electronic Data Systems (EDS) January 1988 and graduated through the SED programme which was designed to weed out the non-Eagles types (an Eagle being a good EDSer), it was not designed to help you get through. My course had an initial intake of 25 of which I think 17 made it through the 10 week course, the rest were fired - now that's what I call a tough course

The original logo of EDS, still current when I joined (I had to scan this image from some old stationary I kept when we changed the logo, could not find a good digital version even on Google Images - it's that rare)

1990s
Between 1991 and 1997 while working on the GM account for EDS I lived in Antwerp, Belgium, lovely place, lovely people, lovely chocolate and beer

Rebranding was all the rage, so EDS had a new logo, which none of us liked

I also got to work in Plano, Texas, the HQ of EDS for 9 months and loved the wide open spaces of the USA
I visited the Denver Development Centre in Denver, Colorado. Something very beautiful about this place, the scale, the space, breathtaking.
My 10 year EDS anniversary award, a very lovely brass carriage clock.
2000s
I took up Wing Chung Kung Fu in 2000. Actually it was early 1999 but after 3 weeks I was posted to Antwerp again and didn't return until 2000
Yet more rebranding, this time to make it more "webby" / global and was actually a really good example of what one could do with logos
Sold my first of many photos to adorn the front cover of an actual book in print, you can see more of my published book cover images here
I was very lucky to visit the EDS offices in what was the worlds tallest building at the time, the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpa
The myCOE team in Vancouver, Canada, May 2003. I was the lead architect on this internal project with a great team, we worked closely with Microsoft and it would have been a shining success had it not been for EDS management deciding to close all such projects to save money, a decision which of course, ended up losing us money instead
I get married, see more here
On honeymoon in Thailand, lovely hot and dry weather, except on our visit to Khao Phing Kan (a.k.a. James Bond Island, from The Man with the Golden Gun) where there was a windy and wet storm while we were there.
We have our first child, a son, Leonidas, and I find real meaning to life
EDS MoJ Performance Testing, Sun Microsystems, Linlithgo, Scotland. I am closely examining some circuit board, clearly I had very good eyesight those days!
HP buy EDS, transition happens at lightning speed, pretty soon EDS is gone and we are all "HPers", for more on my IT career see here for my CV
2010s
Our second child, a daughter, our lovely Katerina, seen here just moments after she has been delivered
EDS MoJ NOMIS Data Migration Team, Stockley Park. We spent a year migrating the Establishments from LIDS to NOMIS. We worked mostly weekends with a 36 hour shift over each weekend including all night Sat/Sun to migrate over, usually doing 3 establishments a weekend. We completed all 130 plus on time and without issues (well ok, we had issues but solved them before each deadline)
EDS MoJ NOMIS Performance Engineering Team, Grenadier House, London
I reached 25 years of service at EDS/HP and was rewarded with this very nice printed certificate in an envelope
Our first family vacation, off to Disneyland Paris
HPES become Hewlett Packard Enterprise known as HPE, but I had escaped by this time, 2014, to
aka TTP working as a Lead Consultant and specialist in Performance Engineering. In 2016 TTP and Centre4Testing merged and became .
Before I even realised, I received this in the mail, 5 years ! Though methinks some configuration has not been done, if you look closely, well not even closely, just look.
2020s
The UK leaves the EU.
2020, COVID-19 hits and I am very lucky to be able to work from home, going into the office only ONCE in 2020 and ZERO times in 2021. I did get a bad dose of COVID-19 in November 2021, but was fortunately over it by December.
2022, Covid restrictions over, the kids finally go to Cyprus for a holiday
My biggest problem is clearly I am too loyal, ten years now at Ten10 (and the HomeOffice)
