Galactic Empire vs Rebel Alliance

Comparison between The Galactic Empire and The Alliance to Restore the Republic
PositionGalactic EmpireRebel AllianceSummary
Structure Emperor as Head of State with originally a Galactic Senate but later Regional Governors following a strict, single set of rules/regulations. Loose confederation following multiple systems, more formally referred to as the Alliance to Restore the Republic. The Empire has a clear structure and set of rules whereas the Alliance is less clear as it depends on which group one is discussing [5].
Objectives Bring Peace and Order to the Galaxy [1] [2]. Restore the Republic [3]. The Empire looks to the future and wants peace and prosperity for all, the Alliance harking back to the old ways wants to restore the Republic, wants to force the people to accept the past, through bullying, violence, terrorism and war if necessary[4].
Prerogative The Emperor - All units report to and obey, all units have collective responsibility, all act as one. Loose confederation of units, independent, can plan and act without central authority. When a Stormtrooper does something you know it is by imperial authority and command, Alliance unit actions can be denied and the Alliance can simply call bad groups rouge elements, thus there may be little or no consequences to the Alliance.
Freedom of the Press The Press is free to print anything the Empire agrees to. Proven history of fake news, for example, Han Solo himself had an encounter on Tatooine with a bounty hunter named Greedo. At the time reports are that Han Solo shot the bounty hunter from under the table without Greedo ever getting of a shot. However, the official Republic version of this has Solo waiting for Greedo to shoot and only returning fire in self defence. The official video is clearly a fake [6]. Both will manipulate media for their own benefit but no proof of fake news from the Empire, only the Rebels use this strategy.
Social Care
  1. Stormtroopers - cared for if injured, can retire with benefits
  2. Birth care - no recorded natal issues
  3. Orphans given equal opportunities to take part in the Empire
  1. Soldiers left to fend for themselves if injured, no long term care
  2. Frequent lack of care with mothers dying after giving birth [7] with ridiculous explanations simply accepted as fact
  3. Orphans frequently dumped with no social care with twins often separated with no record of destination [8]
The Empire looked after its citizens, the Republic has a history of maltreatment and lack of care.
